Interregional Group Central Asia - Russia
The UNCCD Interregional Group "Central Asia – Russia" (IRG) was established within the framework of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to facilitate cooperation in implementing the UNCCD Framework Strategy for 2018–2030.
As the result of a joint agreement, six countries — the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan — have joined efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in combating desertification, land degradation, drought and climate change.
