Uzbekistan and Russia Strengthen Cooperation in Environmental Protection

On the sidelines of the CITES CoP20 Conference in Samarkand, a meeting took place between Alisher Salomov, Advisor to the Minister of Ecology of Uzbekistan, and Tatyana Kuznetsova, Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation (Rosprirodnadzor). The parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, with a particular focus on sharing best practices, introducing modern environmental safety approaches, and enhancing the effectiveness of environmental governance.

Alisher Salomov emphasized Uzbekistan’s readiness to expand collaboration with Russian environmental institutions, particularly in areas related to natural resource management, ecological supervision, and the application of advanced monitoring and assessment tools.

A separate part of the discussion centered on the protection of water bodies and the rational use of water resources, which represent strategic priorities for both countries. The Uzbek side expressed interest in studying the achievements and methodologies of Russian experts to strengthen national environmental measures.

The meeting was held in a constructive and productive atmosphere, reinforcing mutual understanding across several promising areas. Both sides reaffirmed their intention to maintain regular dialogue and continue mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of international ecology and natural resource protection.
