A three-day training on access to climate finance and green technologies took place in Ashgabat on 30 September–2 October 2026. Held in a hybrid format, it was organised under a joint initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, FAO and the Green Climate Fund.
Representatives of government agencies, financial institutions, academia and the country’s regions discussed climate mitigation technologies, greenhouse gas reporting, and investment in agriculture, forestry and other land use. Participants also identified promising green solutions for crop production, livestock, forestry and aquaculture.
The training explored public, international and private financing options for adaptation measures. Participants validated an investment plan prepared by FAO experts to mobilise funding for agriculture, forestry and other land use in line with Turkmenistan’s environmental priorities.
The final sessions covered Paris Agreement reporting requirements, including greenhouse gas inventories and the Enhanced Transparency Framework. Implementing the investment plan is expected to strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy and improve access to climate technologies and finance.
