On 23 September 2026, Kyrgyz Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision Akyl Toktobaev took part in a high-level meeting on climate action and a just transition. The meeting was held at UN Headquarters in New York during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Participants discussed accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement, strengthening international climate cooperation, and ensuring a just transition to a low-carbon economy and clean energy. They also addressed climate change adaptation and improving developing countries’ access to climate finance and technology.
Particular attention was given to supporting the most vulnerable countries and regions, including mountain areas facing accelerating glacier degradation, changes in water resources and growing climate risks.
