Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 21 July 2026 — The Republic of Tajikistan and Mongolia have taken an important step toward expanding bilateral environmental cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in environmental protection, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience.
The document was signed during the State Visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, to Mongolia. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh of Mongolia.
The Memorandum of Understanding was concluded between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia. The agreement establishes a framework for strategic cooperation in pasture restoration, glacier protection, climate change adaptation, climate resilience, and combating desertification.
The signing reflects the shared commitment of both countries to address common environmental challenges through stronger cooperation and sustainable natural resource management. The Memorandum is expected to facilitate the exchange of expertise, the development of joint initiatives, and enhanced bilateral collaboration in environmental governance.
Following the negotiations, the two Heads of State described the outcomes of their discussions as promising and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation between Tajikistan and Mongolia in support of sustainable development and environmental protection.
