Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Submits Draft Soil Fertility Programme to the Government

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has submitted to the Government a draft resolution on the development of a national programme aimed at improving the fertility of agricultural soils.

The announcement was made by Vyacheslav Leonov, Director of the Department of Land Policy, Property Relations and State Property of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, during the All-Russian Field Day held in Altai Krai. According to Leonov, the programme is being developed in accordance with the instructions of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and is now largely complete. The draft resolution outlines a set of measures designed to preserve and enhance the fertility of agricultural land.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Andrey Razin noted that Russia has considerable potential to expand the area of agricultural land. He expressed confidence that the adoption of the programme would help advance efforts to bring more land into agricultural use and improve its productivity at a new qualitative level.
