On 22 September 2026, a bilateral meeting was held in Urumqi between Danara Alimbayeva, Director General of the Kazhydromet RSE, and Chen Zhenlin, Head of the China Meteorological Administration.
The parties discussed cooperation on modern technologies, early warning systems and forecasting hazardous weather events. A key topic was the MAZU system, which Kazhydromet is considering for practical use in Kazakhstan, including short-term forecasting, nowcasting and the application of artificial intelligence.
They also discussed the use of Fengyun satellite data and expanding access to modern weather-monitoring tools. The parties agreed to continue their work in these areas and identify practical next steps.
