Kazakhstan Showcases Green Innovation at “Clean Technologies Days – 2025” Forum in Istanbul

From September 1 to 5, 2025, Istanbul is hosting the Global Forum “Clean Technologies Days – 2025.” On September 1, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Nurzhan Kurmalaev took part in a high-level panel session on the theme: “Advancing Green Innovation through Regional Cooperation: The Role of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).”

The session was organized by UNIDO, TÜBİTAK, and the Organization of Turkic States. Key participants included Rashad Khaligov, Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development of Azerbaijan; OTS Secretary-General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliyev; UNIDO Deputy Director General Ziyong Zou; TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB President Mehmet Aslan, along with senior officials from Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

The discussion focused on strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems, supporting SMEs, and expanding cooperation in renewable energy, innovation, and sustainability.

In his speech, Mr. Kurmalaev shared Kazakhstan’s experience in implementing the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP), supported by UNIDO and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

He concluded by emphasizing that regional cooperation is essential for advancing clean technologies, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s readiness to share expertise and actively engage in joint initiatives.
