On 22 September 2026, a kickoff event for the technical assistance project “Supporting Industrial Decarbonization in Kazakhstan” was held in Astana. Participants included representatives of government agencies, the World Bank, industrial enterprises and other stakeholder organizations.
The project aims to support Kazakhstan’s transition to low-carbon development. Its work will focus on identifying opportunities to reduce emissions, addressing barriers to the adoption of modern technologies and creating conditions for attracting climate finance.
One of the project’s key outcomes will be a Roadmap for Industrial Decarbonization in Kazakhstan, setting out practical measures and priority areas for modernizing the industrial sector.
Government agencies, businesses, financial institutions and other partners will contribute to the project. Their joint efforts are expected to advance low-carbon solutions, improve projects’ investment readiness and support Kazakhstan’s long-term climate goals.
