On 18 September 2026, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in an online meeting of the Interstate Environmental Council of the CIS Member States. Kazakhstan holds the Council’s chairmanship in 2026.
The Council brings together the heads of environmental authorities from CIS countries. It provides a forum for discussing environmental policy and cooperation on environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources.
Chaired by Kazakhstan, the meeting addressed key areas of cooperation among CIS countries. The agenda included waste management, digitalization of the environmental sector, environmental awareness, climate change, the development of a green economy and a circular economy, as well as the safe management of obsolete pesticides.
