The first foreign delegates have begun arriving in Samarkand for the 20th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP20). One of the first arrivals was CITES Secretary-General Yvonne Iguero.
The distinguished guest was welcomed at Samarkand International Airport by Obidjon Kudratov, First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.
With only a few days remaining until CITES CoP20, preparations are in their final stage for this major international event, which will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors, international organizations, and the scientific community from 167 countries.
The Conference is expected to be a key milestone in strengthening international cooperation and developing joint solutions for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
