Uzbekistan has submitted its Third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) under the Paris Agreement, pledging to reduce the carbon intensity of its GDP by 50% by 2035 compared to 2010 levels. The updated NDC will be officially presented at the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), to be held from 10 to 21 November in Belém, Brazil.
The preparation of NDC 3.0 was the result of joint efforts by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, representatives of the private sector, civil society, international financial institutions, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The process took place within the framework of the national initiative declaring 2025 as the “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy.”
The updated climate targets reflect Uzbekistan’s strengthened commitment to sustainable development, emphasizing energy transition, clean technologies, and low-carbon growth. The NDC also links climate action with social inclusion, gender equality, and the creation of green jobs, ensuring that the country’s environmental transformation benefits all segments of society.
Particular attention was given to youth engagement, with many of their ideas incorporated into the document. Through NDC 3.0, Uzbekistan reaffirms its dedication to fulfilling global climate commitments while building an environmentally responsible and inclusive future for its people.
