On July 8, a national climate seminar was held in Tashkent, where Uzbekistan presented its draft of the updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0). The event took place under the framework of UNDP’s "Climate Promise – Phase 2" and gathered representatives from government bodies, academia, civil society, and climate experts.

The NDC 3.0 draft outlines measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in key sectors such as energy, industry, transport, and waste management. It also highlights adaptation priorities in areas like agriculture, water resources, and public health.

Experts from the National Center for Climate Change emphasized that updating the NDC is a strategic step toward a sustainable future, requiring the active involvement of all key stakeholders, including civil society.

Special attention was given to nature-based solutions, which, according to estimates, could contribute up to 37% of the global emission reductions needed by 2030. The seminar also addressed inclusivity, gender equality, and the engagement of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in shaping and implementing climate policy.

The NDC 3.0 draft will serve as the foundation for Uzbekistan’s climate action in the coming years and will be presented on the international stage as part of the country’s commitments under the Paris Agreement.
