Uzbekistan is set to implement the AirFarm greenhouse system, based on aeroponics, as part of its strategy to adopt innovative agricultural technologies. The system ensures energy-efficient, year-round crop production and strengthens the integration of science and agriculture.
The Uzbek delegation, led by Deputy Director of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, Oybek Omonov, is currently visiting the Republic of Korea. The visit includes meetings on the practical application of scientific innovations and international cooperation.
A key discussion took place in Seoul between Akmal Tulanov, Director of the Republican Agroservice Center, and Joseph Lee, General Manager of Midbar Co Ltd, focused on introducing AirFarm technology in Uzbekistan. As a result, an agreement was reached on the free transfer of four AirFarm units worth USD 150,000.
One unit will be installed at the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture;
Three units at the Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon, and Potato Crops.
The platforms will be used for growing leafy greens, other vegetables, and local potato varieties using aeroponic technology.
The parties agreed to conduct two-week practical training sessions for farmers and specialists on the practical use of aeroponics, ensuring rapid adaptation and scaling of the technology.
The AirFarm project represents a major step towards integrating science and production, promoting innovation, and achieving sustainable agriculture in Uzbekistan. Aeroponics will help increase crop yields, reduce resource consumption, and adapt to modern climate challenges.
