Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Alisher Shukurov met with István Jakab, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, to discuss the advancement of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector and the practical implementation of new initiatives outlined in the bilateral "roadmap" agreed during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Hungary.
A key outcome of the talks is the launch of a $165 million poultry cluster in Syrdarya region in partnership with the Hungarian company ZA-Invest Poultry Kft. The project will include the construction of eight modern poultry farms for 1.5 million birds, an incubator, a feed mill, and a meat processing facility.
In addition, a breeding center for fisheries will be established in Tashkent region in collaboration with the Hungarian Fisheries Center. Sixteen purebred fish species from Hungary will be gradually introduced to Uzbekistan, supporting the expansion of aquaculture, strengthening export potential, and promoting scientific research cooperation.
The discussions also covered opportunities in agriculture digitalization, the use of geoinformation systems in agrotechnologies, and joint initiatives in education. Notably, a joint master’s program between Tashkent State Agrarian University and Hungary’s MATE University has already been launched.
Both sides underlined that the step-by-step implementation of these projects, combined with the exchange of scientific and technological expertise, will foster innovation in the agricultural sector and deliver mutual benefits to Uzbekistan and Hungary.
