A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed with the “Halyk” Charitable Foundation in Astana. This agreement represents an important milestone in Kazakhstan’s efforts to restore and expand natural resources, while also promoting environmental awareness among the younger generation.
Kazakhstan is among the countries with relatively low forest cover. With only 5.1% of land covered by forests, they play a vital role in regulating the climate, protecting soils, preventing desertification, and serving as natural shields against dust storms. In the context of global climate change, the challenge for Kazakhstan is not only to preserve existing green areas but also to significantly expand them in the coming years.
Achieving this ambitious goal requires the joint efforts of the state, society, and the private sector. The memorandum with the Halyk Foundation serves as a clear example of such collaboration. It outlines cooperation on forest restoration in the Semey Ormany reserve and Ile-Alatau National Park, the development of the green belt around Astana, as well as the promotion of environmental education for children and youth.
For many years, the Halyk Foundation has supported social and educational initiatives, and its involvement in ecological projects gives them special significance. The signed memorandum is not just a formal document but an integral part of Kazakhstan’s long-term strategy for reforestation, sustainable development, and building an environmentally responsible future generation.
