On 26 February 2026, consultations were held at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic to review the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework under Priority Area III — “Climate, Environment, Energy and Disaster Risk Management.”
The meeting summarized joint results achieved in 2025, focused on strengthening climate resilience, improving natural resource governance, and enhancing disaster risk reduction and response systems. Key strategic priorities for 2026–2027 were also identified.
Participants included the Deputy Minister, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme, representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and UN Women, as well as the Country Director of the World Food Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic.
In 2025, comprehensive efforts were undertaken to enhance the country’s adaptive capacity to climate change, develop disaster risk management mechanisms, and expand cross-sector partnerships involving government institutions, international organizations, and the private sector.
Particular emphasis was placed on aligning climate and environmental priorities with the National Development Programme of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030 and on achieving measurable results aimed at improving public welfare and sustainable regional development.
The consultations concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation and consolidating efforts to enhance Kyrgyzstan’s resilience to climate and environmental challenges.
