Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture has proposed new rules for geobotanical surveys, aiming to modernize the study of soil composition on pasture lands. The updated methodology reflects recent legislative changes that emphasize the digitalization of land management services.
According to the draft order, all surveys will be carried out by the State Institute for Land Surveying, established by a government decree in September 2023.
The revisions are linked to amendments in national law that mandate the transition to digital formats for maintaining the state land cadastre. The explanatory note highlights that soil, geobotanical, and agrochemical surveys are classified as a state monopoly.
The ministry expects that the adoption of the updated rules will improve the accuracy and efficiency of geobotanical research, strengthen oversight of pasture conditions, and create a digital foundation for the future development of land monitoring in Kazakhstan.
