From September 3–6, 2025, Vladivostok will host the 10th Anniversary Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), organized by the Roscongress Foundation. The main theme of this year’s forum is “The Far East – Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity”, with a strong focus on ecology and climate policy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree mandating a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to 65–67% of 1990 levels by 2035, taking into account the maximum absorption capacity of forests and other natural ecosystems, while ensuring sustainable socio-economic development.
Anton Kobyakov, Executive Secretary of the EEF Organizing Committee and Advisor to the President of Russia, stated: “Russia is consistently implementing its low-carbon development strategy, combining environmental responsibility with industrial and economic growth. The Roscongress Foundation integrates the development of green technologies, innovative emission-reduction approaches, and investments in low-carbon initiatives into the agenda of major business events.”
As part of the EEF’s outreach program, the International Forum “Islands of Sustainable Development: Climate Aspect” was held in the Sakhalin Region on August 1–2, where it was announced that the region had achieved carbon neutrality ahead of schedule. The results of the Sakhalin Climate Experiment will be presented at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York in September 2025.
The EEF 2023 already achieved carbon neutrality, and the Roscongress Foundation offsets the carbon footprint of all its major events.
