The Central Asian Center for Environmental and Nature Protection Research at Green University under the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change hosted the opening ceremony of the Third Uzbekistan Forum “HSK: Education in China.” The event brought together representatives of government agencies, diplomatic institutions, leading universities from China and Uzbekistan, as well as professors and students.
Speaking at the event, Aziz Abdukhakimov, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the Ecology Committee, highlighted the strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in education, science, innovation and sustainable development. He noted that participation of representatives from 26 leading Chinese universities demonstrates the growing academic partnership and mutual trust between the two countries.
According to organizers, the forum serves as an important platform for expanding long-term institutional cooperation, strengthening academic exchange and developing joint research in environmental protection, climate resilience, green technologies, combating desertification and sustainable development.
During the forum, participants received information on educational programs offered by Chinese universities, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral opportunities, scholarship programs, HSK examinations and admission procedures. Meetings with university representatives and discussions on future cooperation prospects were also held.
The forum was followed by an international training seminar titled “Technologies for Combating Desertification in Central Asia,” organized jointly with Chinese scientific institutions. The seminar aims to study China’s advanced experience and promote practical solutions for addressing land degradation challenges.
The seminar showcased modern technologies and practical approaches in desertification prevention, water-saving agriculture, reclamation of saline lands, ecological restoration and efficient land use. It will also support the establishment of a regional platform for scientific, technological and industrial cooperation and promote the model “Chinese technologies + Central Asian practice” adapted to local conditions.
More than 60 Chinese scientists and specialists will participate alongside Green University experts in scientific exchanges, practical training and field studies. The program also includes visits to the halophyte garden in Jizzakh and sites in Tashkent Region. As a result, the Research Institute for Combating Desertification and Desert Economy Development is expected to evolve into a permanent regional center for education and capacity-building in desertification control.
