Dushanbe, Tajikistan, May 29, 2025 — Representatives of the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development (ICSD) took part in the Regional Forum “Strengthening Transboundary Cooperation for Water and Climate Resilience in Glacier-Dependent Basins in Central Asia”. The forum was held as part of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Conservation and brought together over 120 participants, including representatives of ministries of the countries of the region, international organizations, the scientific community, development partners, the public and youth. The work of the forum was organized within the framework of three thematic sessions. The first discussed transboundary water management, legal mechanisms and preventive diplomacy. The second was devoted to the role of scientific data in decision-making, including research on glacier melting and water supply. The third session focused on innovative approaches and financing of sustainable solutions, including nature-based measures and multi-level planning. In conclusion, the participants developed recommendations for strengthening scientific and technical cooperation, expanding access to financing and strengthening regional interaction. ICSD representatives emphasized the importance of interdepartmental cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the Regional Environmental Program for Sustainable Development in Central Asia (REPSD), especially in matters of creating databases on water security and climate.
