From 14 to 16 September 2026, representatives of the National Climate Change Centre under Uzbekistan’s National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change took part in a regional forum of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). They presented the country’s experience in climate adaptation, climate risk assessment and digital tools for environmental governance.
At bilateral meetings with the ADB and international organizations, the parties agreed to expand cooperation on air quality, combating desertification and land degradation, and developing a national climate data system.
Uzbekistan is set to join ADB regional technical assistance projects focused on improving air quality and combating desertification. Discussions also covered a national climate data platform using satellite technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as the development of a National Strategy for Reducing Black Carbon Emissions and Improving Air Quality under the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC).
Participation in the forum is expected to strengthen international cooperation and help mobilize technical and financial support for Uzbekistan’s environmental and climate initiatives.
