Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Shukurov held a meeting with Mr. Yoshitsugu Minagawa, Chairman of the Working Group on Agriculture and Regional Development under the Japan–Uzbekistan Silk Road Fund (JUSRF) and head of the Japanese business delegation.

During the talks, the parties discussed ways to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level, focusing on the introduction of Japan’s advanced agricultural practices and the implementation of joint investment projects in Uzbekistan’s agro-industrial sector.

The discussions centered on modernizing agricultural industries, developing the processing sector, and adopting innovative technologies. A key outcome of the meeting was an agreement to develop the sericulture (silk production) sector in the Fergana region through a public–private partnership model and to create a modern, mutually beneficial framework for cooperation.

Additional initiatives were proposed, including tea cultivation using Japanese technologies, logistics improvement, and the adoption of smart agriculture solutions.

The sides also emphasized the importance of capacity-building and knowledge exchange, particularly through Tashkent State Agrarian University, where training programs in Japanese language and agrotechnologies are being expanded.

Concluding the meeting, Alisher Shukurov reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to provide comprehensive support for all planned initiatives, highlighting that this partnership marks a new phase of agricultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan — one built on synergy between technology, education, and innovation.
