Uzbekistan and IsDB Discuss Expanding Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector

A meeting between a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alisher Shukurov, and Sarah Sharaf, Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for Operations, was held at the IsDB headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in agriculture and advancing potential joint initiatives.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed key areas of practical cooperation, including the development of agricultural projects and the use of IsDB financial and technical instruments to support sectoral growth. The dialogue also addressed long-term partnership priorities and the effective implementation of joint programmes.

Particular attention was given to the modernization of agricultural machinery within the framework of cooperation with IsDB. The sides exchanged views on current sector needs, the phased renewal of machinery fleets, and the adoption of modern, efficient and resource-saving technologies.

In addition, the participants explored potential joint projects and mutually beneficial initiatives that could be implemented in the medium term, in line with Uzbekistan’s agricultural development objectives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation, coordinating agreed action plans and implementing joint projects aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
