President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon Discusses Prospects of Cooperation with the UN Economic Commission for Europe

October 14, 2025, as part of the “Dushanbe-Invest-2025” International Investment Forum, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with Tatiana Molcean, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNECE, placing particular emphasis on sustainable development, environmental protection, infrastructure improvement, and regional cooperation.
President Rahmon stressed that partnership with UNECE is an important component of Tajikistan’s foreign policy, contributing to the advancement of national priorities in the fields of economy, ecology, and innovation.
The Head of State highlighted that this collaboration covers key areas of socio-economic growth, including the implementation of the “Dushanbe Water Process” and the “Dushanbe Glacier Preservation Process”, both aimed at sustainable water management and addressing the impacts of climate change.
Emomali Rahmon highly appreciated UNECE’s contribution in supporting Tajik initiatives in the areas of rational use of natural resources, the development of a green economy, and the simplification of trade procedures.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan is ready to continue implementing joint projects in such areas as transport, logistics, certification, digitalization of statistics, and regional economic development.
Special attention during the meeting was also given to the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), which plays a key role in strengthening economic ties among regional countries and promoting interstate trade and integration.
Within the dialogue, the sides also discussed pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, glacier preservation, and sustainable water use, which are of strategic importance for the entire Central Asian region.
In conclusion, both parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further deepening comprehensive cooperation between Tajikistan and UNECE, aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing regional stability.
