Abu Dhabi, UAE — 2025 — On the sidelines of the IUCN World Congress on Nature Conservation, Mr. Yerlan Nysanbayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with Mr. Rodriguez, CEO of the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
During the meeting, the parties discussed GEF-9 and its ambitious goal to address urgent and interconnected global environmental crises. The discussion focused on integrated solutions linking climate, biodiversity, land and water resources, chemicals, and pollution management.
Minister Nysanbayev invited the GEF CEO to participate in the Regional Environmental Summit, and an agreement was reached on GEF support for the organization and conduct of the Summit.
The meeting highlighted the importance of international cooperation in sustainable development and nature conservation, strengthening Kazakhstan’s partnership with global environmental institutions.
