Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia Strengthen Strategic Partnership

From 20 to 23 July 2025, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh paid a state visit to the Kyrgyz Republic. This marked the first official visit of a Mongolian head of state to Kyrgyzstan in recent years and underscored Mongolia’s growing interest in closer engagement with the countries of Central Asia.

The visit began with an official welcoming ceremony hosted by President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. During bilateral talks, the two leaders discussed key areas of cooperation, including politics, trade and economic development, transport, and agriculture.

Special emphasis was placed on digital transformation, cultural and humanitarian ties, and tourism. The presidents highlighted the importance of utilizing the transit potential of both countries to improve regional connectivity and access to international markets.

A Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership was signed following the talks, along with several other bilateral documents aimed at enhancing institutional and sectoral cooperation.

The cultural programme included participation in the international music festival “Meikin Asia” on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul and a visit to the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center in Cholpon-Ata.

This visit marked a significant milestone in the development of Kyrgyz-Mongolian relations, reaffirming the mutual commitment to strengthening trust, deepening cooperation, and enhancing coordination in the international arena.
