Astana, July 24, 2025 — Kazakhstan is at the stage of reviewing the draft memorandum on the transfer of saigas to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As specified by the department, on July 22, a message was published on the official resource of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan about preparations for signing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of saiga protection. The document has been sent to the Kazakh side for consideration in the working order.
“Considering the environmental significance, the issue requires comprehensive study with the participation of specialized scientific organizations and competent government agencies of the two states,” the Ministry of Ecology noted.
It is also emphasized that the transfer of wild animals and the signing of such agreements falls under interstate regulation and requires an appropriate level of approval.
