The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Regional Dialogue for Central Asia and Eastern Europe took place in Tbilisi on 6–8 October 2026. At a high-level roundtable, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Nurken Sharbiyev stressed the importance of data sharing to jointly assess climate risks and prepare projects on climate adaptation, forest restoration and the rehabilitation of degraded land.
The dialogue provides a platform for the GCF to engage with countries and partners, identify regional priorities and improve access to the Fund’s resources.
On the sidelines, Sharbiyev met with Thomas Eriksson, GCF Regional Director for Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. They discussed priority projects Kazakhstan is preparing for GCF financing, including through the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, as well as efforts to advance the accreditation of national institutions.
