The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, convened an initial consultation workshop to advance discussions on the revision of the country’s Land Code and improvement of land governance.
The event brought together FAO representatives, senior officials from the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Agriculture, and Water Resources, the national cadaster agency, as well as international experts and sectoral organizations.
During the discussions, FAO experts presented a set of policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the management of agricultural lands, ensuring their efficient use, and improving transparency in land revaluation processes.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of considering natural and economic characteristics of farmlands to support sustainable agricultural practices.
In the afternoon, a training session showcased international best practices in agricultural land management, including approaches to subleasing and measures to enhance transparency in the land sector.
