From August 17 to 28, 2026, Ulaanbaatar will host the Seventeenth Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The main venue for the event has been designated as the city’s National Park.

The total area of the park is 920 hectares, with 29.9 hectares allocated for the event, including 5.6 hectares designated for construction. Plans include building a parking area for 930 vehicles and 20 temporary structures. Road construction will begin this year, while engineering, telecommunications, and water supply networks are being installed on schedule.

The decision to select the park as the main venue was made by the National Organizing Committee, chaired by Minister of Environment and Climate Change Batyn Batbaatar. Committee members visited the site, assessed its infrastructure, and approved it as the key location for COP17.

Park Director B. Battulga emphasized that preparations are progressing actively to ensure a high-level event. Minister’s Advisor D. Batmunkh and Head of the COP17 Preparatory Department D. Ariuntuya reported on the ongoing work aimed at providing comfortable conditions for participants and guests.
