Biodiversity, Climate, and Glacier Preservation: Key Priorities in the President’s Address

On 17 September 2025, a meeting was held in Dushanbe with the staff of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In his address, the Head of State emphasized that environmental protection, the rational use of natural resources, and ensuring ecological security remain top priorities not only for Tajikistan but also for the global community.

The President highlighted issues related to biodiversity conservation, climate change and glacier retreat, the development of environmental legislation, improvements in monitoring systems, and the advancement of Tajikistan’s international initiatives. He also noted the importance of the “State Greening Programme until 2040,” the development of eco-tourism, and strengthening environmental education and public awareness.

Special attention was given to Tajikistan’s global initiatives, including the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation held in Dushanbe in May 2025, which resulted in the adoption of the Dushanbe Resolution, supported by UN Member States.

In conclusion, the Head of State called on the Committee’s staff to demonstrate high responsibility in implementing national environmental policies and expressed confidence that their work would contribute to preserving Tajikistan’s unique natural heritage for future generations.
