📆 On September 2, in Dushanbe, the Atlas of Environmental Changes of the Republic of Tajikistan was officially introduced. The publication brings together the results of six decades of environmental and climate monitoring, offering a rare and comprehensive look at the country’s ecological transformation. The Atlas was developed since 2019 as part of a regional initiative supported by UNEP, the Government of the Russian Federation, and leading scientific institutions.

♻️ Delivering the keynote remarks, Isfandiyor Shukurzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, highlighted the Atlas as an essential reference for shaping national environmental policy and as a vital platform for assessing the country’s exposure to climate change.

♻️ The Atlas presents satellite imagery, historical records, and thematic maps, complemented by analytical reviews on the evolution of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, the role of climate factors, and progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. Scientific expertise was provided by specialists from Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

♻️ Designed as a valuable tool for researchers, government authorities, and civil society, the Atlas will serve as a practical resource for decision-making and awareness-raising. At the launch event, printed copies were distributed to participants, followed by an expert discussion with the project’s developers.
