As part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmanov held a meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima. The discussion focused on the initiative to establish an Agro-Innovation Hub under the Ministry of Agriculture for Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as on its potential support from FAO. The parties agreed to accelerate work on the project’s implementation.
The goal of the project is to foster sustainable dialogue, facilitate the exchange of advanced technologies, and promote joint scientific cooperation in the context of limited access to the sea. It was noted that FAO is considering Uzbekistan’s proposal as a priority, and that the Hub’s implementation will strengthen the region’s food security. The parties agreed to expedite preparatory work and discuss the details during upcoming sectoral meetings.
