On 17 September 2026, Akyl Toktobaev, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, presented Kyrgyzstan’s Critical Minerals Development Strategy at the first Korea–Central Asia Business Summit in Seoul.
In his address, the minister highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s significant resource potential and the need to further diversify the country’s mining sector. Particular attention was given to developing the critical minerals industry, attracting investment and implementing joint projects with international partners.
Kyrgyzstan is offering cooperation across the entire value chain — from geological exploration and extraction to mineral beneficiation and processing. This approach is intended to increase domestic value added and support the development of modern technology-based industries.
The strategy focuses on greater transparency in the sector, stable conditions for investors, infrastructure development and the introduction of advanced technologies. Other priorities include expanding international financing and partnerships, applying ESG principles and supporting local communities.
Akyl Toktobaev invited investors, technology companies and financial institutions to participate in joint critical minerals projects. Kyrgyzstan is seeking long-term partnerships that promote responsible resource development and strengthen regional supply chains.
